Sanjay Leela Bhansali has been in plans to direct his magnum opus titled Bajirao Mastani from the past few years and the movie has been put on hold as the director was unable to find the suitable cast.
After the release of Ram Leela, Sanjay Leela Bhansali felt that Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone from the best cast for the characters of Peshwa Bajirao and Mastani. The shoot of the movie took two years time and the movie has been made on a budget of Rs 210 crores. SLB produced the movie on his own banner Bhansali Productions while Eros International backed the project.
The film released in 6000 screens across the world which is highest for any Indian movie. The movie released between huge expectations and it received a decent response from the audience. Though the drama in the second half has been a letdown, The flick emerged as a boxoffice winner because of the performances by Ranveer and Deepika along with Bhansali’s flawless narration.

The movie collected Rs 100 crores in its 10 days of its box-office run and even in the third week, the movie has been minting decent money. The film collected Rs 170.34 crores in 20 days which is huge for the film. Ranveer Singh has been paid no remuneration and he will share the profits along with the makers.
