He teamed up with Deepika Padukone for the film Ram Leela and their performances along with the sizzling chemistry in the movie are said to be the major highlights of the film.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali produced and directed the film which ended up as a huge blockbuster all over. The director felt that Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone is the perfect match for his magnum opus BajiraoMastani which has been planned from the past few years.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali kept BM on hold as he failed to find the perfect actors for the roles of Peshwa Bajirao and Mastani. After the release of Ram Leela, he felt that Ranveer and Deepika would do justice for the film. The movie has been made on a budget of Rs 210 crores and it has been shot for nearly two years.
Ranveer tonsured his head for the lead role and Priyanka Chopra played Kashibhai in the movie. The movie competed with Sharukh Khan’s Dilwale for release and both the big ticket films released on the same day. Sharukh Khan’s Dilwale dominated the release weekend by minting Rs 65 crores whereas Bajirao Mastani collected just Rs 43 crores.

The film maintained the stability even on weekdays and the film collected huge money in its long run which Dilwale dipped badly during the days. The flick collected Rs 188 crores among the domestic circles and the film crossed Rs 100 crores among the International circles recently. The talkie grossed Rs 300 crores worldwide and is running in limited screens. Sanjay Leela Bhansali produced the film on Bhansali Productions along with Eros International.
