Sanjay Leela Bhansali took his time and he finalized Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone to play the lead roles. The movie has been made on a budget of Rs 80 crores and Ram Leela surprised everyone by collecting Rs 160 crores across the world.

He has kept the film on hold as he could not get the proper cast for the film. Though he finalized Salman Khan to play the lead role, he walked out of the film due to professional differences with Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
After watching Ram Leela, Bhansali has been highly impressed with the performances of Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone which made him cast them for the roles of Peshwa Bajirao and Mastani for the film.
After an enough homework, he started the film which has been made on a budget of Rs 210 crores. The entire film has been shot in Pune, Maharastra and Gujarat. Some lavish sets have been laid and Bhansali has taken special care in the costumes of the actors in the film.

BM released all over on December 18th in record number of screens and the movie received decent response from the audience. The film collected R 100 crores in two weeks and the collections have been rock steady even on weekdays. Though Shahrukh Khan’s Dilwale released on the same day, the film could not compete with BajiraoMastani.
The movie collected Rs 188.5 crores in 30 days of its box-office run among the domestic circles all over. Bajirao Mastani recently crossed Rs 100 crore mark among the International circles. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bhansali Productions and Eros International produced the movie.
