Sunil has been upset with the debacles and he has taken huge break from films and he started listening to scripts.

He has been approached by the leading production house Sri Venkateswara Creations. Dil Raju is the producer and Vasu Varma who made his debut as director with Naga Chaitanya’s Josh narrated a script to Sunil which impressed him.
The movie has been rejected by Allu Arjun but Sunil loved the script completely. The movie has been shot in 75 days and the makers have spent over Rs 20 crores for the film. The movie has been titled as Krishnastami which is said to be the costliest film made in the career of Sunil till date.
The movie has shot exclusively in Hyderabad, Switzerland, Bangkok and Goa. Nikki Galrani and Dimple Chopade are the female leads in the movie and Dinesh composed the music. The theatrical trailer of the film impressed the audience big time which raised the expectations.
The makers wrapped up the shoot of the film long time ago but they waited for a comfortable release date. Chota K Naidu handled the cinematography for Krishnastami and Dil Raju produced the movie on Sri Venkateswara Creations banner.

Krishnastami released in over 1000 screens across the world and received mixed response from the audience. The outdated story and boring narration made the audience get irritated and the movie has been slammed by the critics all over.
Krishnastami minted Rs 2.54 crores on its opening day and it collected Rs 5.4 crores in its first weekend. The collections dropped badly on its first weekday and the movie made Rs 6.2 crores in four days of its boxoffice run. Sunil pinned huge hopes on the film and he has been badly disappointed with the response of the film.
