Dangal review and movie rating is here with the release of the film outside India. In short, it can be said as both inspiring and entertaining at the same time. It’s a biographical story of a father Mahavir Singh Phogat (played by Aamir Khan) and his two daughters (Geeta and Babita) who won top medals in worldwide wrestling.

Mahavir (a former wrestler based in Haryana) had lost the hope of having a son who could bring honor to the family and nation by winning gold in wrestling. He trained both of his daughters Geeta (Fatima) and Babita (Sanya). Both of them made history in wrestling and broke the taboo of Indian women participating in such a sport.

Dangal Review

The Dangal story shows some of the common knowledge that Geeta and Babita won at the Commonwealth Games and following championships. But, with it, the story also shows how arduous their journey was and how vigorously their stubborn father trained them and made professional wrestlers against all the odds.

The film is also a medium of encouraging women empowerment as it shows the historic victories of the Phogats which brought glory to India. They brought India to glory in a sport which is highly dominated by men even now.

Writing has been the best part of the Dangal movie. Along with director Nitesh Tiwari, the writing team consisting of Piyush Gupta, Shreyas Jain, and Nikhil Malhotra should be given compliments. They have made an awesome flick with tongue-in-cheek quality, peppered with humor, and several poignant father-daughter emotions throughout it.

Some people may not be able to understand the Haryanvi language and twang fully. However, messages given in the film are loud and clear. The obsession of nearly all the parents to have a male child, lacking intellectual sight on bringing up daughters and the administration’s pathetic disposition towards sports are exactly visible.

Both Geeta & Babita’s victories and the film should be congratulated. The makers have made such a good that’s able to engage the audience with its wrestling tournament. And to the top of that, the movie brings patriotic emotions to the viewers. The performances are the best part of the film.

In addition to it, Mr. Perfectionist put 22 kilos to portray a gray-haired with pitch-perfect ziddi and sensitive parent. The 51-year-old Aamir deserves appreciation for trying out new roles. His contemporary are playing safe without experimenting. Sakshi has done her part effectively as Mahavir’s wife. Debutants Sanya and Fatima have done justice to their parts.

Music

Lyricist Amitabh Bhattacharya and music director Pritam have successfully made an earthy soundtrack with Daler Mehndi. The title track pumps up the adrenaline. Apart from it, the Gilheriyaan, the Haryanvi rap, and hip hop Hannikarak Bapu, and the Dhakaad songs are made with perfect combination with the film.

Verdict

You should watch it despite the effect of demonetization.
