Holiday and Baby scored massive hits all over after which Akshay Kumar came up with Airlift released this year which emerged as the biggest hit among his movies. Airlift has been based on the concept of evacuation of Indians from Kuwait during the India – Kuwait civil war.

5 Days Neerja 1st Tuesday Box OfficeNow talented actress Sonam Kapoor who proved her acting skills has been signing movies that are completely different from commercial format. All her recent films received wide applause for her performance and she signed a biopic this time which is about Neerja Bhanot who was a flight attendant and got killed during a flight hijack in 1986. The movie has been titled as Neerja and Sonam was surprised when she has been approached to play the lead role in the movie. She has done lot of hard work about and she learned a lot about NeerjaBhanot before she shot for the film. Ram Madhvani has taken enough time to complete the script work during which Sonam transformed herself to fit in the role.
The movie has been shot in 75 working days and it has been made on a budget of Rs 13 crores. A special set has been erected in Mumbai where most of the film has been shot.
The movie is about Bhanot, a flight attendant in Pan am flight 73 which has been travelling from Mumbai to New York through Karachi and it has been hijacked in Karachi. She struggled and fought with the terrorists saving 359 lives sacrificing her life. Atul Kasbekar, Shanti Sivaram Maini produced the film on Fox Star Studios and Bling Unplugged.

The movie was released on February 19th across the world and the movie received wide response from the audience across the world. Neerja collected Rs 22 crores in the first weekend and the movie is running quite strong even on the weekdays.
The film collected Rs 28.91 crores in five days of its box-office run. Sonam Kapoor’s performance along with the flawless and gripping narration by Ram Madhvani have been well appreciated by the audience.
