Harkirat Singh died because of shooting himself. He was the grandson of the former Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh. He was found dead at his residence (Sector 5 Chandigarh). He was taken to the Chandigarh PGI where doctors declared him dead. (check: Abhitej (grandnephew of Bhagat Singh) died.)
Neeraj Sarna, the SHO of Sector 3 told The Reporter Times that Harkirat committed suicide by shooting himself with his licensed revolver at his home. A postmortem will be performed on his body tomorrow at PGI.

Harkirat Singh’s brother Ravneet Singh Bittu told reporters that Singh was a depression patient and for the last 10-15 days, he was feeling very depressed. Today, he shot himself and succumbed to wounds.
