Moreover, the history tells us that India has been a strong team at home most of the times. So, the men in blue are the clear favorites. However, team India should not take the England side lightly as they have world-renowned great players in the limited over format. On the papers, the series looks thrilling.

India needs to do really well in this 50-over series as this is the last for them before the big ICC Champions Trophy 2017 tournament. Kohli needs to find the best winning combination of the 11 players and the squad. Yuvraj Singh is also a part of the team. This time, we will get to see some of the experienced players playing in the competition.

Though MS Dhoni has stepped down as the captain, he hasn’t retired from the ODI format yet. It will be a big attraction to see him playing under Kohli (one of those who he admires a lot), his successor. Let’s see if the former captain returns to his best form.

Dhoni has earlier said that he has a significant duty to perform behind the stumps and will do the best in providing his captain the inputs. Let’s see how he plays under his captain. Along with Dhoni, there will be Yuvraj Singh to bring in more experience. Yuvraj was last seen playing ODI back in December 2013.

It has been a long time for him since he played last in 50-overs game. However, his presence will be enough to provide support to the team’s middle order. Sometimes, he bowls well too. The presence of two veterans – Dhoni and Kohli should prove optimistic for the newly crowned captain Kohli.

“MS is guiding the youngsters a lot. If the top order doesn’t fire well, then I and MS along with Singh will be left. We can focus more on youngsters if we have 15-20 games before the big tournament. But, as of now, we have only 3 games. So, we need to focus on those who are in good form,” Kohli told us.

“It is the primary reason why we have brought Yuvraj back in the team. His first class season went very well. He will make the best batting combination possible. It will help in making the team more stabilized in the middle and lowered middle order with MS and Yuvi.

J Bumrah and U Yadav will lead the pace attack in the bowling department for India although all eyes will be on the spinners duo R Ashwin and R Jadeja. It is no doubt. The spinning duo has played important roles in the test series against England. Both of the wills have to take responsibility once again.

However, England has a different quality of players in the ODIs. This time, the English team have players like J Roy and A Hales who have a strong opening firepower and led by E Morgan. Indian bowlers haven’t got many opportunities to bowl the destructive duo. It may result beneficial for the visitors. The bowlers of India will have to take their wickets early else they may prove troublesome.

Not only the openers, but there are also some good batsmen in the lower order for India vs England 2017 tournament. M Ali comes to bat at number seven, and he is a strong batsman. The middle order is taken care by J Buttler, B Stokes, and Morgan himself. The Indian team will have to restrict them by tightening their line and length and if possible out them in the early stages. They have the capability to take the match with them in no time.

Joe Root also has a significant role to play. On the bowling front, A Rashid and M Ali are there to handle the spin department for their team. Along with spinners, there are fast bowlers like C Woakes, D Willey, and L Plunkett. Defeating India seems a little complicated, so Morgan will not leave any stone unturned to do it.

“It’s a tough challenge to win in India, but not impossible. We will try to play smart cricket and not only positive cricket. We would try not to fall short,” Morgan said.

Morgan seemed to be focusing on Root and praised him. “He has been a crucial part of the team’s success in the past. It’s great news that he is back with the team as recently he became a father,” Morgan added.

Prediction

Both the teams have good batsmen and bowlers. Let’s see who wins the India vs England series.
