Travers Stakes 2015: The American Pharoah is on its continuous crusade. It is known to be one of the greatest racehorses of all time. It will be seen running in the Travers Stakes race to be organized in Saratoga Race Course on Saturday.

The stadium is expected to completely filled (approx 50 thousand people) as all the tickets have been already sold out.

Owned by New Jersey, American Pharoah is on winning spree. At first, he won the Triple Crown, then the Haskell Invitational at Monmouth in August this year. Now, it is predicted that it will win again. This time the winning prize amount is approx $1.6 million in the Travers Stakes.

It has become a concern for the opponents. In the last three races, it has covered almost 10 miles and a total of 18,000 miles till date.

Sure, he flies first class, but airline food doesn’t seem to bother him. Last weekend, he had a workout at Del Mar Racetrack in California. Trainer Bob Baffert said that he is ready to participate in another race.

“That’s a lot of mileage, and he’s had tough races,” Baffert began. “He went to Arkansas twice. And then he went to Kentucky, Maryland, back to Kentucky, New York, back to Kentucky, back to California.”

A pause: “… Jersey, back to California back … I mean … You don’t see a horse do that. You have to be really special to do that. I think you can see a lot of it is (because) he’s a very kind and gentle horse. He’s got a great mind. He knows when to turn it on and when to turn it off. There’s no wasted energy.”

Is Baffert worried that, at some point, it will all take its toll and Pharoah will be beaten?

“You can’t be afraid to get beat,” Baffert said. “We’ll just lead him over there. I think that’s what true racing’s all about, to witness big performances.”

The Travers Day 2015 race includes other stake races too. They are the following: the $750,000 Personal Ensign; $500,000 Ballerina, $500,000 King’s Bishop, $700,000 Forego, $1 million Sword Dancer and $400,000 Ballston Spa. Winners of the Personal Ensign, Ballerina, Forego and Sword Dancer earn automatic spots in a Breeders’ Cup race in their division.
