Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Super Bowl 2016 Spot Trailer Review: Parody imitates the style of someone or something else in an amusing way, and sure does entertains a lot. It has a fan base of its own, sometimes recreating famous scenes (or movies) or sometimes in a blunt manner. However, there is another form of parody, which grew out of newspapers, spawning a number of comic books, TV shows and movies along with a tremendous fan following from both children and young adults. Yes, I am talking about TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles, a new movie from the franchise scheduled to release this year. (see: X Men: Apocalypse – super bowl review.)

The follow up to the not so amazing reboot of the movie series features the likes of Megan Fox and our very own Stephen Amell (I swear I expected his Arrow Monologue) as human leads along with the titular characters. Shredder is returning in the sequel, to be joined by Rocksteady, Bebop and Krang to please the hard-core fans. The trailer features a hip-hop song to go along with amusing and hilarious random shots, and the voice artists remain true to the spirit of the characters. Dave Green (Earth to Echo) is set to direct the feature, with Michael Bay producing (Thus, Megan Fox) the movie. (Seriously, they are getting synonymous with each other).

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Super Bowl 2016 Spot Trailer Review

Extensive CGI, mindless comic book action, and an I-don’t-care-about-anything plot guarantee the financial but not critical success of a trademark Michael Bay film. Cheesy one-liners, outdated animation and changed origin stories were the reason for 2014 movie’s disappointing reviews. People were crestfallen with the results, and hopes are not too high for this as well. (read: The Flash s2e13 review.)

However, with a loyal fan base and leading merchandise in markets, the film is sure to make out its budget at the very least. The trailer is met with positive responses, and the film intends to improve upon its predecessor very much like “Batman V Superman” is trying over “Man of Steel”, being overstuffed as well. In any case, if all fails, we have Green Arrow uh… sorry Casey Jones, to save the day. But it’s amusing to see Stephen Amell using bows and arrows to fight menacing villains, even a hockey stick for that matter.
