Sanjay Leela Bhansali has recently come up with Ram Leela which is the adaptation of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. The movie ended as a smashing hit all over and Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone played the lead roles. The duo impressed the audience with their outstanding performances which made the movie collect Rs 130 crores in its final run.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali has been extremely satisfied with the work of Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone after which he decided to cast them in the lead roles in his upcoming movie BajiraoMastani. The movie has been Bhansali’s dream project but he kept the film on hold as he could not get the right actors.

Salman Khan has been initially considered for the role but he walked out of the project because of professional differences with the director. Bhansali felt that Ranveer and Deepika will do justice for the roles of Peshwa Bajirao and Mastani. The movie has been shot for over two years and made on a budget of Rs 210 crores.

Ranveer Singh had his head tonsured for the character in the movie and Priyanka Chopra played Kashibhai in the film. Sanjay Leela Bhansali produced the movie on Bhansali Productions banner. Eros International co-produced the movie which released across the world on December 18th in over 6000 screens.

The film opened with mixed response all over and the movie even opened to 50% occupancy which disappointed the makers initially. The movie collected Rs 46.77 crores in its opening weekend and the collections have been steady.

The flick stayed stable even on weekdays which made the makers relaxed. The movie collected Rs 165.20 crores in 21 days and Bajirao Mastani made up Rs 166.15 crores in 22 days of its box-office run.

The movie faced tough competition from Bejoy Nambiar’s Wazir which released today. Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone have been widely praised for their performances in the movie.
