The film has been the dream project of Sanjay Leela Bhansali which has been shot for over two years and the movie has been made on a budget of Rs 210 crores. Bajirao Mastani released in record number of screens and the movie received decent response all over.

Though the movie faced tough competition from Shahrukh Khan’s Dilwale, the flick emerged as a winner collecting decent money in three weeks.  Bajirao Mastani collected Rs 166.55 crores in 23 days of its box-office run across the country and the movie collected Rs 167.35 crores in 24days. The talkie collected Rs 272 crores in 24 days across the world.
