The film was praised by the number of film critics for Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s acting and at the same time criticized for direction and unmeaningful stretching out of small scenes just to exceed the length of the film. Aishwarya starrer Jazbaa had also struggled much on the weekends hardly minting out 25 crores net from the domestic box office. The similar trend is looking to followed by the movie Sarbjit. On Saturday, no traces of being a superhit film had been observed in the box office.

The film targets dual concept audience. First are the nationalists, those who can do anything for their country’s respect and the second is Punjabi audience. It’s a fact that many stories in Punjabi movies are based on struggle, romance, and love. The movie opens with hardly 15% occupancy in the theaters averaging to 20% occupancy throughout the day in the most of the cities on Saturday. A similar pattern was observed on Friday with only 15% marks on Friday. It looks like producers of Sarbjit had done a disastrous mistake by trying to compete with a Punjabi film ‘Kaptaan’ with a movie of only 10-15 dialogues in Punjabi.

On the Day 2, the collections of Sarbjit movie was not much and limited to 4.5 crore rupees only which also raises another question on Aishwarya’s post-marriage career.
The movie’s budget was 25 crore rupees, because of having T Series itself as the production house, the film had been overall benefited in the perspective of cost savings with the help of optimizations. The film released on over 1500 screens throughout the country, initially.
Sarbjit Saturday Collections were around 4.56 crore rupees, and the movie is expected to end with 15 crore rupees collections with the end of this weekend. It’s not an easy to market for Bollywood movies now after getting into competition with the Hollywood films.
So all we can do is to wait and watch for the final report of Sarabjit Box Office Collections as they are the only thing which will govern whether the movie is a flop or a hit. No wonder what, Bollywood now needs to analyze and interpret the changing trends on the box office before starting shooting for any film whether on any topic or biopic.
