Kajal Agarwal has been finalized to play the female lead, and Pawan Kalyan took personal care of all the aspects of Sardar Gabbar Singh. The pre-production work of the movie took enough time, and the makers have erected massive sets of Rathanpur outside Hyderabad to shoot most of the film. The music of the film has been composed by Devi Sri Prasad.

This is the second highest opening for a Telugu film after Baahubali: The Beginning. The collections dropped drastically on its second day, and it continued to fall gradually.
The movie collected Rs 36 crores in its first weekend across the country, and it crossed 1 million USD mark in the USA in just three days. SGS made Rs 43.4 crores in five days of its box-office run across India. The movie is expected to dip down completely in its first week.
