Many top filmmakers have stepped ahead to make a film with Ranbir and cash his craze. Then came Besharam which ended as the biggest debacle in his career. Besharam has been followed by Roy and Bombay Velvet which continued to end as disasters. Anurag Kashyap’s directorial Bombay Velvet has been made on a huge budget of Rs 75 crores, but the movie could not even recover the minimum investments of the film.

Talented director Imtiaz Ali who directed heart touching and natural films like Jab We Met, Rockstar, and Highway is back with this film. Ranbir earlier worked with Imtiaz for Rockstar and the movie collected Rs 100 crores.
Ranbir pinned huge hopes on this flick which has been a romantic entertainer. Ranbir’s ex-girlfriend Deepika Padukone has been roped in to play the female lead and the movie has been shot exclusively in Corsica, France. The movie has been one of the most awaited films of Bollywood this year and the movie released in record number of screens all over the world.
Top music composer AR Rahman composed the music for the movie and its audio is a huge hit even before the film’s release. The theatrical trailer raised the heat on the movie and it released in nearly 3000 screens across the world.
The movie received an exceptional response at the multiplexes and Tamasha collected Rs 25 crores in its first weekend which is huge. The makers of the movie have been quite delighted with the movie’s response, but the collections dropped drastically over the weekdays.
It managed to collect Rs 45 crores in its first week which has been decent, but the collections dropped in the second week. Tamasha collected Rs 65 crores in two weeks and in overseas markets, the movie grabbed Rs 6 crores all over.

The film has been quite dull in the third week and with limited screens across the country, the movie made up Rs 73.5 crores in all the territories of the world. Sajid Nadiadwala produced the movie on Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainments banner. Ranbir has signed one more film in the direction of Imtiaz Ali which will start rolling next year.
