Auto-Rickshaw Permit Scam 2015: A meeting was conducted by the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal with cabinet ministers and senior party leaders in view of the alleged autorickshaw permit distribution scam. (see: bigg boss 9 episode 76.)



The meeting decided to scrap about 1000 permits after getting the information of the alleged irregularities in the allotment process. Moreover, the government of Delhi suspended three officials employed in the department of transport which includes a senior bureaucrat. Further, they decided not to issue further permits for some time.

The PTI news reported the officials including Deputy Commissioner S Roy Biswas, Inspector Manish Puri, and clerk Anil Yadav were suspended immediately after the meeting in the morning at 8’o clock.



Manish Sisodia, the Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia revealed that they are going to hand over this matter to CBI. He tweeted the same confirming the report. On such alleged irregularities, the BJP leaders are asking the current transport minister Gopal Rai to resign from his post. Seeking further attention on this matter, the BJP Delhi unit is planning to organize a protest outside the Delhi Secretariat.

This scam came into eyes of Kejriwal some autorickshaw drivers sent text messages to him. After receiving these SMS, he made a call to Mr. Rai. The officials reported that the minister has already gone throughout the matter thoroughly and found two types of irregularities – the permits or Letters of Intent were issued on a pick and choose basis against the rules and that these were being handed over to intermediaries or unauthorized persons instead of the applicants – the official said.

The transport minister, Rai said that he has already ordered an inquiry just after receiving the complaints which were sent to him on December 23. These irregularities came into view after the Delhi government started to prepare for the odd-even formula for cars starting from January 1, 2016.

Public transport will be required to fill in for cars on the capital roads. The transport department is the nodal agency for implementing the grand plan. The government has decided to put the process of issuing permits on hold.
