She was well-known for her participation in various fashion events and TV shows. Astaburuaga death took place due to the pancreatic cancer of which she was suffering from quite a long time.

She passed at an age of 96. One of her closest friends told that she was not well lately and will be very hard to forget. Mary Rose McGill state that the whole of Chile mourns her death as she was the dear of all citizens of the country.
Her work in the fashion events and management was well recognized. She recently participated in the Gala Festival of Vina Del Mar. She came from a traditional and conservative family.
