Tamil Film Director KS Gopalakrishnan Passes Away At 86

The last night, ace Tamil film director cum lyricist as well as producer, KS Gopalakrishnan died in a private hospital on 14th November 2015. He passed away at 86 and at present, he has 6 sons. His wife has already died a long ago. (check: Vedhalam collections.)

His son KSG Venkatesh told TheReporterTimes that, “he was admitted in hospital because of phlegm. He left his body tonight.” His funeral will place on Sunday, i.e., November 15 as stated by him only.

KS Gopalakrishnan has been credited to introduce ace actress KR Vijaya in the industry with the film Karpagam released in 1963. He is also well credited to be a popular lyricist as well as story and dialogue writer.

On a interesting point, the CM of the state, Jayalalithaa had portrayed a double role in one of his directorial film, Vanthale Maharani (1973). Some of his successful legacy includes Saradha (1962), Kulama Gunama (1971), and Adukku Malli (1979). All of these were films written and directed by him.

As a lyricist, has worked in many films likes of Edhirparaathadhu, AMaradeepam, Engal Veetu Mhalakshmi,a nd Uthama Puthiran which became hit in their lifespan.

As a dialogue writer, his work is visible in movies likes of Naan Kanda Sorgam, and Padikkadha Medhai.

Speaking of his directed and produced films, then, the list includes Deivathin Deivam (1962), Karpagam (1963), Kai Koduttha Dheivam (1964), and Ennathan Mudivu (1965). Athaimadi Methaiadi (1989) was his last directorial venture.
