Nitish Kumar Took Oath As Bihar Chief Minister; Lalu’s Sons In Government

Patna: On Friday, Nitish Kumar sworn-in as the new Bihar Chief Minister for one more time. He took oath along with other 28 ministers including two sons of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, Tejaswi and Tej Pratap. It is because of the grand alliance government of RJD-JDU-Congress. It was like a grand oath taking ceremonial function held in presence of numerous leaders of parties except BJP. (watch: England vs Pakistan.)

A total of 12 members each from RJD including Nitish, and JD(U) and four from Congress party got into the cabinet. All of these 28 members took oath in the administration of Governor Ram Nath Kovind.

Besides Nitish, 12 members each from RJD and JD(U) and four from Congress were administered oath as ministers by Governor Ram Nath Kovind. (watch: NorthEast United vs Mumbai City.)

Speculations over the cabinet arose when the first time MLA Tejaswi became the second person to sworn-in after the CM at the event held at Gandhi Maidan. Tejawi will become Deputy Chief Minister. It is very interesting that a person who is the first time MLA directly becomes the deputy CM of any state.

Nitish Kumar will continue as the Bihar CM for the fifth time. Porfolios for the ministers of the new cabinet will be made available soon.

Several eminent persons including Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi, former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and a number of Congress Chief Ministers were present at the event.

All the ministers of the new cabinet took oath at the same event today. Hazari who is a cousin of Ram Vilas Paswan won against the LJP chief’s nephew Prince Raj from Kalyanpur. In the Lok Sabha held earlier this year, he defeated Ram Chandra Paswan, the brother of Ram Vilas.

From RJD quota besides Lalu’s sons, Abdul Bari Siddiqui, Abdul Gafoor, Vijay Prakash, Chandrika Rai, Alok Kumar Mehta, Ram Vichar Rai, Sheo Chander Ram, Muneshwar Chaudhary, Chandrashekhar and Anita Devi took oath.

Anita is the only woman minister from RJD. She won against senior BJP leader Rameshwar Chourasia in Nokha assembly segment.

From Congress, party chief Ashok Choudhary, Madan Mohan Jha, Abdul Jalil Mastan and Awdesh Kumar Singh were sworn in.

RJP got a total of 80 seats in the Bihar election 2015. JD(U) followed it by winning 71 seats while Congress won 27 and thus the grand-coalition made a total of 178 seats out of 243.

The cabinet quota is fixed upto 15% of the House strength which means that Nitish Kumar could have a maximum of 36 members in the ministry including himself.
