Pakistani Ghazal Singer Ghulam Ali’s Concert in Mumbai opposed by Governing Party

Ghulam Ali who is very popular for his ghazals in Hindi and Urdu, was going to have a concert in Mumbai after few days. The concert were opposed by a political party who co-governs the government of Maharashtra with Bhartiya Janta Party.

Ghulam Ali is scheduled to give his performance in Mumbai on Friday at Mumbai’s Shanmukhananda Hall, the same venue which was used by Shiv Sena for some functions.

“We can’t have cultural ties with Pakistan when they kill our soldiers,” the Sena said today, demanding that the upcoming concert to be cancelled.

Senior BJP Leader condemn this act as he thinks that culture should be put above the border issues, Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi of the BJP told NDTV: “What the Sena is doing with Ghulam Ali is absolutely wrong. People like him must be kept above and beyond borders.” BJP is co-governing the state in alliance with Shiv Sena.

Members of the Chitrapat Sena, met the organiser of the hall and has requested him to cancel the concert. Members of Shiv Sena repeatedly argues on the point of dealing with a person whose country kills our soldiers.
