The actress slowly made her moves as an actress. Being the daughter of legendary actor Anil Kapoor, Sonam showed no marks of her father and she worked hard to get her own identity in Bollywood.

She signed a new movie which has been the biopic of air hostess Neerja Bhonat who fought against the terrorists during the hijack of a flight (Pan AM Flight 73) in Karachi on September 5th 1986. Neerja Bhonat lost her life during this attack and she saved the lives of all the passengers.
The movie has been written by Saiwyn Quadras, and directed by Ram Madhvani starring Sonam Kapoor in titular role of “Head Purser”, while Shabana Azmi and Shekhar Ravjiani played supporting roles. The movie has been shot in a specially erected set in Mumbai film city and it has been made on a budget of Rs 21 crores. Sonam Kapoor has done lot of homework for the character to look like Neerja Bhonat in the film.
