Veteran director Raja Krishna Menon narrated the script of the film that impressed the actor. He was excited and he wanted to take part of the film. He gave enough freedom for the director to come up with the bound script. The movie has been made on a budget of Rs 40 crores and the movie started rolling last year.
Raja Krishna Me non almost took two years to complete the script work and he made sure that the movie has no flaws in the screenplay and the second half which is crucial.

Airlift has been shot in Dubai mostly and it has been shot partly in Rajasthan and in Mumbai. The movie has been made on a budget of Rs 40 crores and Akshay has wrapped up his shoot in just 35 days. The entire movie has been shot in just 75 days and the war episodes took most of the time to be shot.
Nikhil Adwani, Monisha Adwani, Aruna Bhatia, Madhu G Bhojwani, Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar and Vikram Malhotra produced Airlift on Abundantia Entertainments, Cape of Good Films, Emmay Entertainments, T Series and Hari Om Entertainments banners. The movie is based on a true story that happened in Kuwait and is called as the biggest human evacuation in the world.
Airlift operation has been placed in The Guinness Book of World Records and the process evacuated 1.70 lakh Indians during this process to India. Film released on January 22nd across the world during the Republic Day weekend and the movie received wide response from the audience.
Airlift collection smashed many existing records among Akshay’s films and the movie made Rs 127.80 crores in 27 days of its box-office run across the country. Airlift has been declared as the first blockbuster of 2016. The movie has been well praised by the critics
