He came up with Kochadaiiyaan which has been directed by his daughter Soundarya R Ashwin. The movie is said to be an animated film that has been captured with a motion capture camera. Deepika Padukone played the female lead and Eros International along with Media One Global Entertainments produced the film. After this, Rajinikanth came up with Lingaa which has been directed by KS Ravikumar. The movie ended up as the biggest debacle in his career and Anushka, Sonakshi Sinha played the female leads. AR Rahman composed the music and Rockline Entertainmnets produced the film.

He has recently wrapped up the shoot of his next release Kabali which has been directed by PA Ranjith. Rajini will be seen as a mafia don in Kabali and Radhika Apte will be seen in the heroine’s role. Rajinikanth will be seen sporting a thick and white beard in the movie and Kalaipuli S Thanu is producing the movie which will hit the screens during summer. He just started shooting for Robo 2.0 recently which is being directed by Shankar.
Akshay Kumar has been roped in to play the negative lead in the film and Amy Jackson is the heroine. The movie is currently shooting in Chennai and he will be in a dual role in the film. Lyca Productions are the producers and the movie has been slated for release during summer next year.
As per the latest we hear, Rajinikanth has been considered for the country’s prestigious award Padma Vibhushan. Every year during the Republic Day, the government of India announces the people who excelled in their field and this year Rajinikanth has been announced for the award.
