Ranbir Kapoor starrer Sanjay Dutt biopic, Sanju is still faring better, on its 3rd Friday, than the two new releases in India. Soorma is also a biopic movie based on the life of international hockey player Sandeep Singh. The credit for attracting the footfalls at the cinema halls goes to its interesting promos.

The film has got the screen count of around 1100 in India while the sequel to Ant-Man has been released on over 1300 screens and in four Indian languages. These two new films have forced Sanju to reduce its remaining screen count by 50%, almost.
In this way, the new releases will hamper the third week collection of Sanju. They will become the first choice for many filmgoers across the nation. Both of them have got an average opening and are expected to do well at the worldwide box offices.
Going by the numbers, Soorma and Ant-Man & the Wasp have got 20 and 25 percent occupancy respectively. But, both are getting a strong positive talk. The word of mouth may play a game changer now onwards. A strong WoM would boost their collections later in the day – afternoon and evening shows.
Yes, it is true that Sanju’s business will dip after the new films. But, at the same time, it is also true that it is expected to fair better than them. The Friday’s figures tell the same story. It has continued to impress and attract movie goers in the third week too.

Despite losing some screens to new competitors, Sanju’s occupancy in the existing cinema halls is much better than the new films. It has registered around 30% occupancy in the morning shows. And as we know that films occupancies increase in the later shows.
So, it’s clear Sanju will collect more than Ant-Man sequel and Soorma this Friday. Ranbir’s film is still leading at the ticket counters. By the end of the first weekend, Soorma should collect Rs. 10+ crores. It is looking forward to a substantial growth.
