Chhath Puja 2015: UP Government Declares Public Holiday

On the auspicious occasion of Chhath Puja 2015, the government of Uttar Pradesh has declared a public holiday in lieu of the festival to be observed on Tuesday. (check: PRDP 5th Day Collections.)



A spokesperson for the government confirmed by the news of the declaration of the holiday by the UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav.

A proposal for the same was in progress after being prepared by the general administration department since last week. Then, it was sent to the UP CM Yadav who cleared it on Monday.

Going by Politics, then it can be seen as a big move by the CM of UP to gather the vote bank of eastern Uttar Pradesh in his favor where the ruling Samajwadi Party (SP) had bad experience in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.

Further, the spokesperson also revealed that the 5-day a week format will be continued and the official will have to follow it on coming Saturday to compensate the work by doing it on that day in lieu of Tuesday (November 12, 2015) holiday.
