2015 American Music Awards Nominations: On Tuesday, the AMA 2015 nominees were declared and it consisted of mostly the familiar and expected names likes of Taylor Swift. She has again topped the list.

Till date, Taylor has won a total of 6 AMA nominations including for the categories like artist of the year, song of the year (“Blank Space”) and “collaboration of the year unleashed by T-Mobile”. Afterwards, she won for “Bad Blood” which was made with Kendrick Lamar.

Following Swift are The Weeknd and Ed Sheeran both with five nominations to each name. Both of them are nominated for their songs in the song of the year category, Can’t Feel My Face and Thinking Out Loud for The Weeknd and Sheeran respectively.
Moreover, they have also been nominated for the expansive artist of the year category, including a total of 10 artists in that category.
The AMA 2015 nominees for the artist of the year includes Luke Bryan, Ariana Grande, Maroon 5, Nicki Minaj, One Direction, Sam Smith and Meghan Trainor.
The AMAs used social media cleverly to announce the awards. Six of the categories were announced on ABC’s “Good Morning America”, then five via Snapchat and the remaining 12 categories were announced via live streaming of ABC News.
The fans can vote their particular nominees by voting on AMAvote.com, posting on Facebook with a nominee’s name and category hashtag or posting on Twitter with a nominee’s name, the category name and the #AMA hashtag.
The show is slated to air on 22nd November 2015 on ABC and Jennifer Lopez will host the same.
An official statement suggested that these awards were created by Dick Clark in 1973. The nominations are done on the basis of “key fan interactions as visible in Billboard Magazine and on Billboard.com. It all includes the sales of album and digital singles, radio airplay, streaming, social activity and touring.
