England made the history with making first-ever penalty shootout victory in a World Cup match and won against Colombia. The Three Lions were successful in doing what many of their predecessors failed to do. They went past Sweden – a very good team.
The Swedes played impressively throughout the tournament and were looking perfect to defeat the attacking threat posed by England. But, England’s team went past Swedes’ defenses and thus got a place in the next round of the title race.
Sterling will be targeted again. The forward missed opportunities against Sweden and some other matches in the tournament. The Manchester City star still has played an important role in the advancement of his side in the competition.
Besides Sterling, it is going to be a big match for England’s midfield as they will have to tackle star pairing Modric and Rakitic, and the likes of Kovacic, and Brozovic. Real Madrid’s Modric has been playing exceptionally well for Croatia and his masterful performance could end England’s World Cup hopes.
