Iowa Ames church shooter Jonathan Lee Whitlatch killed two women namely Eden Mariah Montang and Vivian Renee Flores on June 2, 2022. The shooting suspect shot them in the parking lot of Cornerstone Church on the eastern outskirts of Iowa, USA. After killing these two girls, he shot himself. The 33-year-old Johnathan Lee Whitlatch was a native of Boone.

The school reported that both the girls were students of Iowa State University. Eden Montang was pursuing Human Development and Family Studies. She was the ex-girlfriend of Jonathan Whitlatch, and they have just broken up. Eden Montang’s ex-boyfriend used to abuse her.
On Friday morning, Story County Sheriff Paul Fitzgerald held a news conference and told everyone that the first 911 call about the incident was received after 6:50 pm.
Within minutes, people arrived at the location and found all of the three dead lying on the ground. When paramedics arrived, they tried to help the three wounded, but couldn’t as they were dead by the time.
On June 10, 2022, Jonathan was due to appear in court regarding his trial. He had been accused of domestic violence and impersonating a police officer. He mimicked being a police officer and made several complaints that his ex-girlfriend Eden Montang was involved in an inappropriate relationship.
The authorities said that Eden Montang and Vivian Flores were accompanied by a third girl. They were headed to the church for weekly service which is common among high school and university students. Jonathan Lee Whitlatch approached them with a 9mm pistol in his truck.

As Jonathan crossed them, he opened fire at them killing Eden Montang and Vivian Flores instantaneously. Then he shot himself in the head and died on the spot. The third girl wasn’t harmed in the incident.
Vivian Flores and Eden Montang, the ex-girlfriend of Ames Church shooter Jonathan Lee Whitlatch, were on their way to attend a salvage Bible study programme at the Salt Company. It seemed to have been a targeted attack, but there was no indication that the attacker had already planned the shooting.
Cornerstone Church issued a public statement and mentioned that the girls killed were going to attend the programme. However, the church didn’t reveal any other details about the shooting victims. It offered condolences to the families of people who died.

On June 1, 2022, 45-year-old Michael Louis killed four people at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa.
